Good Morning Church Family,
Yesterday we looked at Jonah in the belly of the big fish, listening in as Jonah repented. What struck me most was Jonah 2:9
“But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the LORD!”
Understanding that “Salvation belongs to the LORD!” is a source of joyous thanksgiving and impetus to serve Him. It’s a two sided coin that we would do well to pay attention to.
On the one hand Salvation belongs to the Lord. So, it is not based upon my words, style, or story, it’s a gift from God’s hand that anyone receives life in and with Him. God has ordained the means of prayerfully sharing His Word through all of His children. Do not carry the weight alone, God will use you through His means, to bring others to know Him. All you must do is be faithful, sowing gospel seeds in word and deed. Marinating in this truth of God’s power is a great source of strength, because it is not completely up to me.
On the other hand, salvation belongs to the Lord. So, salvation is not in how other people view you or in how others respond to the gospel. Do not allow your heart to look for its hope and salvation in the opinions of others, in the desires/opinions of our fickle hearts, or in the things that distract us from mission. This makes us thankful that our salvation in the shaky of creation (people and pleasure), but in the solid unchanging goodness of Jesus Christ.
Take heart, Salvation belongs to the LORD.
We love you, we’re praying for you, and we hope you have a wonderful Monday morning.
