Monday Morning Minute: Do whatever He tells you.
Good Morning Church Family,
“Do whatever He tells you.“
Mary the mother of Jesus made this statement to wedding servants in reference to Jesus. She had just been rebuked, Christ redefined the moment in light of His eternal mission, and now, trusting His character, Mary relinquishes control to the one who can and will keep the party/ program going.
This statement is simply good advice. Our response to that statement will call for two choices to be made: listening and action. Which seems to be more difficult for you?
Listening calls for patience as we wait, not interrupting, not trying to correct or redirect or qualify. We must listen, which will call for us to look at Christ, savoring His words, and creating the space for Him to speak. So, will you be still long enough to listen? There are plenty of good reasons to do so (Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:31, Luke 6:12)
Action here means that we must actually do what He tells us. Some simply want to “listen” without ever an intention of response, I put it in quotes because that is not real listening. We must respond to what we hear Christ calling of us. If He is good, as He consistently shows Himself to be, then we have no fear in His call to love others in real and practical ways.
Ears open, eyes fixed, and hands ready. Like the apostles in Acts 1 take time for Christ’s commands, prayer, and listening. Then, like Acts 2, go by the power of the Spirit to those He has placed in your life, on the road, at the market.
We love you, we’re praying for you, and we hope you have a wonderful Monday morning!
