A Word Worth Keeping

Good Morning Church Family,

If you keep Jesus’ word you will never see death (John 8:51). It’s still ringing in my ears not just because of its challenge but because of who said it. Jesus says this. I hope that isn’t just some name to you.

Jonathan Edwards was brilliant, he famously wrote a long list of resolutions he constantly checked to evaluate progress. Ben Franklin got a lot of stuff done. I remember reading about his drive and determination to accomplish things through a list of virtues he constantly checked. We look to smart or accomplished people for tips on how to become more orderly, effective, or even productive. Have you ever considered how brilliant and meaningfully accomplished Christ is? If your interest is peaked when an expert in your field tells you their rule of life, why don’t we take the same approach to Jesus and His word, hanging on every phrase, replicating His rule of life?

Jesus is the most brilliant person period, and what is it that He says He does? He knows God and keeps His word (John 8:55). It sounds simple, but I think it will work. Today, live in the unique joy and power of Christ in you which is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Know that it isn’t you who takes the next step in your journey, the I Am goes before you, with you , and through you as you relent to His gracious word! We aren’t there yet but in Christ we are making progress toward His holiness (Philippians 3:12).

We love you, we’re praying for you, and we hope you have a wonderful Monday morning!

Peace,
David
